~Lost city…

sunken city

Lost for 1,600 years, the royal quarters
of Cleopatra were discovered off the
shores of Alexandria.
A team of marine archaeologists,
led by Frenchman, Franck Goddio,
began excavating the ancient city in 1998.
Historians believe the site was submerged
by earthquakes and tidal waves, yet, astonishingly,
several artifacts remained largely intact.
Amongst the discoveries were the foundations
of the palace, shipwrecks, red granite columns,
and statues of the goddess Isis and a sphinx.
The Egyptian Government plans to create an
underwater museum and hold tours of the site.

Rainy Day by Alexander Volkov
And when it rains on your parade,
look up rather than down.
Without the rain,
there would be no rainbow.

Mission Wolf
This is Luke
He was rescued by Mission Wolf.
Every year, thousands of wolf dogs are
abandoned by their owners and end up in shelters.

Luke is a wolf/husky cross.
Wolves never have blue eyes,
unless there is husky genes in the mix.

Merry, Merry Sparrow!
Under leaves so green
A happy Blossom
Sees you swift as arrow
Seek your cradle narrow
Near my Bosom.

Pretty, Pretty Robin!
Under leaves so green
A happy Blossom
Hears you sobbing, sobbing,
Pretty, Pretty Robin,
Near my Bosom.

by William Blake

A white blanket covers the yard.
Snowflakes fly swiftly threw the air.
There sits a Cardinal on the frozen bush.
Feathers puffed and bold.
Singing a winter tune.
the wet snowflakes melt on his head.
Hearing the creak of a gate,
and with one swift movement
he lifts into a gentle soar.
Off he goes into the white sky.

~Unicorns

unicorns
Of all the legendary animals of art,
folklore and literature, the Unicorn
is the one with the greatest hold on
our imaginations.
Other fabulous beasts are clearly inventions,
existing only in a mythical landscape
of our own collective creation.
But the Unicorn strikes us as more
than imaginary. It seems possible,
even probable…
a creature so likely that it ought to exist.

~The story of Mosha

new leg

Raising her trunk, three-legged Mosha
salutes her new prosthetic limb,
which means she can get back on the jungle trail.

The young Asian elephant lost her right front leg
after stepping on a landmine aged
only seven months old.

new leg

Close to death, she was rescued and brought
to the Friends of the Asian Elephant hospital
in Lampang, Thailand, where she became the first
elephant in the world to be fitted with
a prosthetic leg in 2007.
